What features should I look for in a Home Security System?
Our basic system includes MORE than most other companies! This includes:

What is Emergency Response Service?
We are now offering the industry’s first home emergency response service to address the clean-up, repair and coordinate insurance coverage for any property that is broken in to or is damaged by environmental issues such as water or heat loss and so much more.
We first begin by updating your monitoring information and then our partner will meet with you to set-up an emergency plan before an emergency happens. (It’s one thing to ask a neighbor to bring in the mail when you are out of town, it’s an entirely different thing all together, in the event of a home/property emergency)
In the event that an emergency does occurs, such as a break-in, damage by fire or environmental issues such as water or gas leaks, we can swing into gear. We act as your personal property first responder. We’ll go to your home, assess the issues and damages, report back to you and provide a total one-stop solution.
We can have your house boarded up if a break-in occurs or replace a window or door if that’s what you request. We can clean up water damage resulting from a broken pipe and even repair dry wall, carpet and handle any electrical or plumbing or reconstruction.
We’ll make necessary repairs when needed and work with you to coordinate any damage recovery and home security issues. We can work with your insurance company and mitigate unnecessary damages.
We can handle your home or property for you. It doesn’t have to be a crisis!
Is the system easy to use?
Yes. The installation technician will explain how the system works upon completing the installation. The system comes with a complete user’s manual and instruction guide along with the handy “Welcome to JM” kit. In addition, you can always call JM’s Service Department any time.
What happens when the alarm goes off?
With a typical home security monitoring setup, when the alarm goes off, a signal is sent to the Central Monitoring Station. Then the monitoring technicians will call your house in order to verify that there is an actual emergency. If appropriate verification is not received, emergency personnel are then dispatched to your home. If your system comes with a panic button and the panic button has been activated, emergency personnel will be dispatched first and then contacts will be attempted secondly. (Our staff confirms each alarm signal and determines how to respond based on the situation (check for false alarm or call the fire department, police, or emergency medical services as required).
Can you also be connected remotely?
Absolutely, with Total Connect, you can facilitate 100% control of your security system by directly linking your alarm system to your Internet-capable mobile phone or other digital device. (Remote system control, notification of events, video service and much more)
Is a telephone line necessary?
NO, and we add more security than a landline which can be CUT! . In partnership with Honeywell, JM is pleased to offer the GSM Digital Cellular Communicator. This is a cellular communication device that allows your alarm system to communicate with JM’s central monitoring station whether a landline exists in your home or not.
Is Voice over IP (VoIP) compatible?
Voice over IP ? that is, Internet-based phone service ? differs from cable telephony and traditional phone service. Often, it does not give priority to security systems. Generally, it is not equipped with a back-up system in case of a power outage. In addition, it is not always compatible with the communications “language” used by security systems. We don’t recommend using VoIP with a security system since it does not possess the reliability needed to complement your security system.
If I lose electric power, will my alarm system still work?
Yes! Your JM home security system is equipped with battery backup, so your system will continue to protect for several hours after a power failure. It is a good idea to check the batteries in your system regularly.
Can I use a security system even if I have a pet?
Yes. Although pets can be a challenge for security systems, particularly if they have free access to protected area or weigh over 100 pounds, specially adapted motion detectors are available at an additional cost. JM specialists will be happy to discuss this option with you.
When and how often should I check my security system?
Check your system regularly to avoid being caught off guard in an emergency situation. Test your system once a month to be sure your communications link is operational.
How much does monitoring cost?
JM monitored security costs less than a cup of coffee per day and less than the average homeowner's insurance deductible per year. Services start at just $22.95 per month for 24 hour monitoring. Additionally, you may save up to 20% on your homeowner's insurance premium just by having a JM monitored security system installed.
Can my warranty be extended?
Yes. For only a few extra dollars a month, JM offers an extended warranty that covers all repair or replacement fees for your security devices (parts and labor).
